When the word haunted comes, it scares us as soon as we hear it. World is full of such haunted places which are not only scary to see but also have some particular history behind it. Let’s check some of the haunted places which have such immortal effects on people who visit or live there.
Eastern State Penitentiary, United States
This place was a former prison, it is known as first prison of its kind which introduced solitary confinement.
Prisoners were sent there during this stage in form of rehabilitation.
They were left there completely isolated, far from people, living and eating alone even exercising alone.
This harsh approach left them to absurdity and due to this, the place was clashed. Afterwards there were shadowy images seen of people and it vanishes as soon as you reach to them and an evil crackling sound was heard from different cells.
Monte Cristo Homestead – New South Wales, Australia
Although it is considered as one of the most beautiful places, still it has some tragedies which cannot be ignored and they become the reason for this house to be haunted. Up to 1948 from the day it was built, a family names Crawley resided and own the property. During their stay they found numerous incidents happening and they witnessed strange things. A young girl died by falling from stairs, a maid fell from the balcony and died, moreover a boy burned to death at the same place. It doesn’t end here; after the house was vacant in 1948, number of caretakers took over amongst them one was murdered in the caretaker’s cottage. So it is found one of the most haunted place in the world.
Castle of Good Hope – Cape Town, South Africa
It was built in the 17th century by Dutch East India Company. The first mystical appearance which was seen there was a tall man, who was seen jumping off the walls of the castle and walking between the roads.
One of the most famous stories that can be heard was of a former Governor Pieter Gyshert van Noodt. When he died in 1728 the same day 7 prisoners were hanged till deaths which were caught in attempt of entering desert of military. It is said that one of the soldier cursed him. Later the day van Noodt’s was found dead on his desk with a sight of fright on his face.
According to Japanese Mythology, this place has some historic connotation with demons. After the bridge of San Francisco Golden Gate, It is also the second most popular place for suicides. More than 50 people died here in 2010. Forest is also very quiet and only the wind can be heard. Hikers use a tape to measure their way to forest so that they can come back without losing their way.
This place is considered one of the most haunted sites in Scotland. It is a home of a Phantom Piper guy; he’s a headless drummer and has a ghost-like dog with him. This place was under a scientific survey in 2001.They used the night vision equipment, digital cameras and 240 volunteers, out of which half witnessed some ghost like appearances which includes sudden drop of temperature and sensation of invisible presence on their clothes.
Chateau de Brissac, Maine-et-Loire, France
This castle is one of the tallest in France and it has its own charm but appearance of a lady in green dress has shocked many visitors. The current residents which is the current Duke of Brissac and his family, have witnessed this lady in green roaming on the top of the towers of this building, with a strange face with holes just like a corpse. Besides her sight, her terrific moans are also heard in the castle.
Borgvattnet (The Haunted Vicarage) – Sweden
It was built in 1876 and is considered the most haunted house in Sweden.
The first incident was witnessed by Chaplin Nils; he felt some unseen forces tearing his laundry when he was on his way to attic.
Then a priest who lived in 1930’s saw a lady in grey dress appearing in a room. He followed her but she disappeared in front of his eyes.
Moreover, once a lady who was staying in the guest room witnessed strange appearance of a 3 year old woman staring at her, and as soon as she opened the lights they were still seen but kind of blurry.
